Jackson & Jackson
Refrigeration Pty Ltd was incorporated on the 17th of
October 2006 and commenced trading on the 1st of December
2006.
The business
is based in Innisfail, Far North Queensland, approximately
90Km South of Cairns.
The
primary activities consist of refrigeration, air conditioning
and electrical sales and service. The company is locally owned
by a number of shareholders all of whom work within the business.
The company services the whole of Far North Queensland, primarily
between Cairns and Cardwell and west to the Atherton
Tablelands.
However,
over the years projects
have been completed outside of this area where required, from
Sydney to the Torres Strait and west to Darwin.
Jackson
& Jackson (Qld) Pty Ltd was formed in October 1993 as a
partnership of Bob and Jeff Jackson. A couple of old Ford
vans and some basic tools were purchased and the company set
off primarily as a subcontractor to Environ in Cairns.
The
first company office was a single room at 77
Buchan St, Cairns, a sub-let from Croft
Sheetmetal. The first twelve months were proved successful enough
to take on two first year apprentices. The bulk
of the workload during this period came from Environ.
Towards
the end of this period of trading, the partners decided that
there was an opening for a new refrigeration and air conditioning
business in the Innisfail district.
Suitable business premises were taken and fitted
out at 180 Edith St,
Innisfail. These premises still remain in use to this day. The
business opened for trade in Innisfail in October 1994
with not a single job on the books.
To celebrate the move to Innisfail the company
employed its first
administration staff member taking the total of staff to five.
Jobs started coming in
immediately and have not stopped since. The growth of the business
was strong and steady. Work flowed in from many clients
in the Innisfail/Tully district, including government works and
some sub contract work for Environ in Townsville and on the Atherton
Tablelands.
Within a
couple of years the company had twelve people on the payroll
and a full sales order book. This period of time saw Jackson
& Jackson install new produce coldrooms, amongst many other projects.
In September 1998 the company was sold to Environ and a new era
began.
All
management and staff remained with the business. Environ invested
heavily in the business with the introduction of computer systems
and an upgrading of vehicles. For the most part however, the
business continued in much the same way as it always had.
Cyclone
Larry struck Innisfail on the 20 March, 2006 causing extreme
devastation to the Innisfail region and a large amount of turmoil
within the business. Cyclone repair work kept the team very
busy, with many staff members ignoring devastation to their own
homes in order to assist other residents in the area. The workload
was tremendous and the company was extremely proud of the achievements
made by the Innisfail team. A very high level of professionalism
was maintained during this period of high pressure working conditions.
On 1 December 2006 the business underwent a management
buy-out. A new company was formed called Jackson & Jackson Refrigeration
Pty Ltd with seven shareholders, all of whom work directly within
the business. The original owners, Bob & Jeff Jackson, are
amongst the current shareholders.
Our business is currently undergoing
a major expansion programme to meet the increased demand for
Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Electrical Services in the
Cairns to Cardwell, and Atherton Tablelands region. Our business
has grown from just two staff to around forty and the future
looks very bright indeed for this locally owned business.
On
1 December 2007, on the first birthday of Jackson & Jackson
Refrigeration Pty Ltd, the company took possession of our Cairns
branch at 54 Supply Road, Edmonton. The branch has been opened
to service the current demand within the Cairns marketplace.
At the present
time this branch can be contacted through the Innisfail office
and the email address is cairns@jacksonjackson.com.au
