Government Offices, Mareeba 

This contract marks the largest project ever completed by Jackson & Jackson Refrigeration Pty Ltd.  The value of the contract was well in excess of $3M AUD and included Electrical Services, Electronic Services and Mechanical Services, including Refrigeration.

Project Outline

The project involved the complete stripping and refurbishment of approximately 4,000 m² of existing government office and laboratory space. 

Jackson & Jackson Refrigeration Pty Ltd were responsible for all of the electrical services for this project including:

• Replacement of the site main switchboard
• Installation of new consumer mains – quad 300m² copper
• Installation of new 450KVA standby genset
• Installation of new sub-mains for both blocks
• Replacement of distribution boards in both blocks
• Installation of UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) system
• Installation of new lighting throughout both blocks
• Installation of new power points throughout both blocks
• Installation of an underground electrical reticulation system
• Installation of new fire alarm system

The electronic services as follows:

• New MATV (Master Antenna TV) system
• New security system and access control system
• New data network
• New AV (Audio Visual) system

And the mechanical services as follows:

• New chilled water reticulation system
• 104 chilled water fan coil units
• Installation of new trend BMS (Building Management System)
• Installation of two new 450kw cooling towers
• Installation of new MSSB (Mechanical Services Switchboard)
• Installation of six new chilled water pumps
• Installation of new Turbo-Core water chiller
• Installation of fume cupboards in the laboratory
• Installation of a cold room with insert doors
• Installation of a freezer room

The Team

This project was completed by a dedicated team of tradesmen, apprentices and sub-contractors, in a tight time frame.  Many challenges were met and overcome by this team.  The Project Manager Anthony Binello, worked tirelessly to guide this difficult project to completion.

Training

Many apprentices worked on this project and received valuable training learnt new skills on this project.

Outcome

The project was completed with good results and was judged a success by the Managing Director, Jeff Jackson.   Jackson & Jackson Refrigeration Pty Ltd look forward to being involved in further projects of this magnitude.
