PFD Food Services, Cairns

Jackson & Jackson Refrigeration Pty Ltd were awarded the contract to supply and install the Commercial Refrigeration equipment for the Cairns depot of PFD Food Services.  

The refrigerated cold store has a capacity to hold approximately 200 pallet spaces of chiller and 800 pallet spaces of freezer.  

The refrigeration system installed is a cascade system with R134A refrigerant on the high stage and R-744 (carbon dioxide) on the low stage.

The refrigeration is controlled by a Danfoss ‘Adap-Kool’ system which offers good control and provides for the best possible efficiency from the system.

Bitzer screw compressors on the high temperature stage and Bitzer sub critical R-744 reciprocating compressors are employed on the low temperature stage.

Australian manufactured Buffalo-Trident heat exchange equipment was used throughout this project.

This project utilises the natural refrigerant R-744, as the low stage refrigerant which is both environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
